Benhur Ortiz-Jaramillo, born on August 16, 1986, in Manizales, Colombia, has built a distinguished career in the field of Engineering. He began his academic journey by earning a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Manizales, in 2009. Continuing his studies at the same institution, Ben completed a Master’s program in Industrial Automation in 2012. Ben’s pursuit of knowledge led him to Ghent University, where he obtained his PhD in Engineering in 2018. His doctoral research was conducted within the TELIN department in the IPI group, part of the esteemed imec research center. His work during this period focused on texture analysis, digital thermography, and objective/subjective image and video quality assessment, with a particular emphasis on their applications in engineering. Ben was a Senior Research Engineer at Cassini Technologies BV, where he spearheaded the development of computer vision algorithms designed specifically for eye care devices. Beyond his professional achievements, Ben is passionate about a variety of activities, including cooking, kickboxing (training at ARJ), drawing, and, game development.
